About Us

Carpenter Millwright College Nova Scotia first opened its doors on March 30, 2009 as a registered Private Career College.  Its sponsoring organization, the Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island Regional Council of Carpenters, Millwrights and Allied Workers, had successfully delivered trades training for twenty years.  CMC was created in response to the needs of the industry and continues to strive to create training for the Commercial Industrial Construction Sector.

The college is registered through the Department Of Education, and the first core programs of the college are Interior Systems (drywall/steel studs), Scaffold Erection, Formwork, and Safety Training.  These courses have evolved into twelve and six week programs with highly qualified and trained instructors who come direct from industry.  The work is 30% theory and 70% practical/hands on training.  The safety training is all done in partnership with NSCSA.

The college also has part time training evenings and weekends customized to the industry’s needs.  The affiliation CMC has with the Carpenters’ Union ensures we remain current with our certifications and programs required for the Commercial Industrial Construction Sector.  We are continuing to add to our offerings as we build a strong reputation for excellence and safety with the construction community.

The location of the college provides a modern and spacious campus with free parking and large compound for practical learning opportunities.  CMC seeks to build beneficial relationships to facilitate its delivery of practical, high quality, employment-oriented training.
