About Us

The Carpenter Millwright College was established in 1996 for those seeking employment in the residential, commercial, and industrial construction industries. We began by delivering Carpentry apprenticeship training to members and new apprentices entering the trade and have since grown to include apprenticeship training for Millwrights, Lathers (Interior Systems) and Painters/Decorators. We are also known for our specialized training in Scaffolding and Safety.

The Atlantic Canada Regional Council is home to the Carpenters Union, Local 579, and the Millwright Union, Local 1009. We represent more than 2000 members in Newfoundland and Labrador and ensure members receive good wages, benefits and pension plans to secure the future for them and their families. We ensure employers are committed to safety and fairness on every job site and in return, we give employers an assurance that when we dispatch a tradesperson, they will receive a highly qualified, trained, and safety-oriented worker.
